You already heard that life is all about the little things. And while it may sound like a cliché it’s very true especially if you want to turn your life around. Even if you have huge goals, you will get closer to them by taking a step at a time to make them possible. So here are small ways that will help you make big changes in your life and discover a new power within yourself.

Use a buddy system

If you are on the journey to self-improvement than you know it can be stressful at moments that you might get the idea to give up. However, changing your life is not something you should do alone and without any kind of support. This is where the buddy system comes in which is actually asking a friend or family member to help you stay on top of your goals.

Find someone you trust to have your best interest at heart and who can be tough on you if the situation requires it. A buddy system is very important at the beginning of something especially if you don’t feel comfortable doing it like exercising or changing your diet. With a friend as your anchor, you will have more fun adapting to this new lifestyle and stay on course until it becomes your everyday norm.

Start eating better

Many people avoid breakfast for extra minutes of sleep or because they are late for work. Some even don’t feel hungry in the morning at all so they opt for coffee first thing in the morning and that can seriously upset our stomach. It’s all about the healthy habits. Breakfast doesn’t have to be a burden. Make some healthy smoothies from your favorite veggies, fruits, nuts, and oats by adding dairy products or their substitutes like almond milk. Also, preparing an oatmeal bowl in the evening and then simply adding fresh fruits in the morning will give you a nutritious breakfast, and your body will know how to reward you.

A person can go a long way with a proper diet and contrary to some beliefs, healthy food can be very tasty. The most important thing when you dedicate to eating better is not to skip meals since it leads to overeating and bad mood. Avoid refined carbohydrates present in candy, soda, and junk foods since they will also cause some serious health conditions like diabetes and obesity.

On the other hand, be more focused on vegetables, fruits, proteins, and fiber since they will make sure you are always full of energy and nutritional ingredients. If you usually skip breakfast, find another way to have it like making smoothies or having it at work. Make sure that you drink plenty of water between meals to stay hydrated and help your body process the food so you don’t feel bloated and constipated.

20 minutes of exercise is life-changing

Exercising is something everyone should do and can do if they put in the effort. And going to the gym is not the only way to stay in good shape and get your body moving. For example, walk or ride a bike to work, stretch with some simple yoga poses in the morning and go on the evening walks after dinner.

We all have trouble to start exercising, but doing stretches every morning can help you feel better and start your day fresh. It improves the blood flow and brings more oxygen to the brain, that will help you wake up and feel energized. Also, it’s a great way to lose stiffness from sleeping and improve the musculoskeletal system, especially if you spend a lot of time in a sedentary position, working in office. Moreover, morning stretching can and will motivate you to go for something more serious like yoga or pilates and that’s where you start with your healthy lifestyle and harvesting the widely known benefits of exercising to your mental and physical health.

When you exercise, the body produces feel-good hormones, burns visceral fat and makes your muscles stronger. And these are only some of the things a simple and moderate 20-minute physical activity can do for you.

Say bye-bye to your comfort zone

A comfort zone is something that people tend to cling to even when there is no need to feel so threatened by the circumstances. But saying goodbye to this habit will help you grow and find your footing in the world. If you stay in your comfort zone you will miss on fulfilling your potential and goals.

So, instead of missing opportunities, start stepping outside of your comfort zone and take on the new challenges. This is not easy in the beginning, but if you take it slow and with patience, it will become more and more comfortable over time.

One book every month

Books are a lovely way to relax your brain and find peace from daily stress. And since there are so many genres to choose from, you will find something that is perfect for you. Thanks to new technologies, you can get any book you want straight to your e-book reader, tablet or smartphone and read anywhere, or you can choose the traditional way and buy yourself a book. Reading will boost your mind and creativity, also it will help you get new ideas and enhance your emotional intelligence – all of which are perfect to fight off stress and feel inspired professionally and personally.

Have fun!

Having fun is equally as important as being dedicated. Moreover, it will help you stay motivated on your goals and improve your focus. So, go and try something new like putting on special effects makeup for Halloween or learning how to make sushi. Finding something fun to do will help your mind relax and be a positive booster to complete your goals.

Also, think of the fun ways to do things you don’t find so pleasant like getting your daily dose of physical activity. Go on a hiking trip with friends instead, take dance lessons at the local studio or get a dog and take a walk together. Most of the things can be fun only if you find the most agreeable way to do them.

Don’t sacrifice sleep

While you will often find yourself sacrificing sleep to get everything done, this is a big no-no. Sleep helps your mind and body regenerate so they can be fresh for another day of activities and errands. Science says that you need more than seven hours of sleep to function properly throughout the day so make sure you get them almost every night.

Plan your responsibilities better and even start using a calendar and other apps that will help you stay well-organized with your duties. That way, you will have enough time to sleep, have fun and still manage to do everything you planned.

Sometimes, people are unable to see small opportunities from huge goals and great expectations. However, through small ways, you can turn your life around and come to big changes that will help you rediscover yourself. But remember to take a step at the time and have fun along the way because everything is better with a smile on the face.
